"According to the information I have received, in some cases, workers are forced to work overtime. We have an 8-hour working day. Nobody has to work more than that," said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on February 3 at the conference dedicated to the results of the first year of the execution of "The State Program on the Social-Economic Development of regions of Azerbaijan Republic in 2019-2023".
The head of state noted: "However, to save more money, they are forced to work for 10 or 12 hours. An end must be put to this, and the Cabinet of Ministers must control it. A special meeting should be held, and these issues should be discussed. If such cases happen, that entrepreneur will be punished. I am addressing to workers. Do not work without a labor contract. I know that in some cases, you are forced to. Nevertheless, you should know that if there is no labor contract, tomorrow, you will not be able to receive a pension and medical insurance. Therefore, entrepreneurs must pay taxes and abide by all laws and be responsible. At the same time, they must not reduce employees without any reasons, as each job cut leaves one family without bread. It must not happen."
